Besides his purely fictional work Daniel Veith also writes essays and article series about his travel adventures. In form of a literary “collage” he combines different genres like landscape portraits, tour descriptions, diary excerpts, letters, dialogs, geographical and cultural digressions in order to describe the experience of the journey in a very direct and impressive way. He illustrates his texts with photos of his own collection.

•  Examples for travel reports:

The salt of heaven
In: Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (16.03.2006).
On the vibrant track
In: Süddeutsche Zeitung (04.05.2006).
•  Example for a portrait:
Mind tester
In: Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (18.11.2005)

•  Example for a humoristic adventure story:

Peruvian frontier problems on the shore of Lake Titicaca
The reports and article ideas also concentrate on South America. They want to present all facets of the continent in a vivid panorama talking about cultural differences, going into action against typical prejudices (e.g. “All Brazilians have chocolate coloured skin, live on the beach and celebrate year-round carnival dancing samba”) and giving insider information that a tourist does not get normally.
Interview with Raúl Alfonsín, ex-president of Argentina (1983-1989)
Buenos Aires, March, 2006

Daniel Veith also worked out an exposé for a TV documentary:
The Andes - A trip to the top of the Americas
(in German - 16 pages)
